It is learner-centered and competence-based, emphasizing skills acquisition through practical teaching and execution of projects.<\/p><p data-start=\"395\" data-end=\"917\">The competences that the learner is expected to acquire are clearly outlined in the modules covered in each of the two semesters of an academic year. The modules offered in this course are designed to enable the learner to attain specific skills required for performing tasks at any level of the respective year of study. Machining and fitting focus on manufacturing and machining machine parts using processes such as lathe turning, milling, cutting, shaping, and fitting of keys, couplings, bushes, shafts, and bearings.<\/p><p data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"1068\">The assessment is categorized into nine packages\/modules based on the competences that a learner desires to achieve for a given trade. These include:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1431\"><li data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1120\">Module 1: Communication Principles in Engineering<\/li><li data-start=\"1121\" data-end=\"1171\">Module 2: Bench Work Operations and Measurements<\/li><li data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1228\">Module 3: Production of Components Using Lathe Machine<\/li><li data-start=\"1229\" data-end=\"1287\">Module 4: Production of Components Using Milling Machine<\/li><li data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1365\">Module 5: Production of Components by SMAW, Shaping, and Grinding Processes<\/li><li data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1431\">Module 6: Production of Component Parts Using Foundry Processes<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1433\" data-end=\"1891\">Upon completing modules 3, 4, 5, and 6, trainees are expected to undergo industrial training, bridging the gap between institutional-based training and the world of work. Additionally, modules in Workshop Technology and Practice, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing and Real Life Project, Applied Technician\u2019s Mathematics, and Entrepreneurship Skills are aimed at equipping learners with the core hands-on skills and techniques in machining and fitting.<\/p><h3 data-start=\"1893\" data-end=\"1944\">Skills and Competencies Acquired by the Learner<\/h3><p data-start=\"1946\" data-end=\"2007\">The course aims to produce fitters and machinists capable of:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2008\" data-end=\"2244\"><li data-start=\"2008\" data-end=\"2050\">Fabricating components and machine parts<\/li><li data-start=\"2051\" data-end=\"2101\">Maintaining and repairing machines and equipment<\/li><li data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2151\">Preparing reports, budgets, and operation plans<\/li><li data-start=\"2152\" data-end=\"2191\">Observing safety, health, and welfare<\/li><li data-start=\"2192\" data-end=\"2244\">Initiating and managing small business enterprises<\/li><\/ul><h3 data-start=\"2246\" data-end=\"2272\">Admission Requirements<\/h3><p data-start=\"2274\" data-end=\"2298\">The trainee should have:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2299\" data-end=\"2578\"><li data-start=\"2299\" data-end=\"2362\">A minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education (Ordinary level)<\/li><li data-start=\"2363\" data-end=\"2578\">Holder of Uganda Junior Technical Certificate (UJTC), Community Polytechnic Certificate, or National Junior Vocational Certificate from a recognized institution OR its equivalent in Technical\/Vocational
