The National Certificate in Sericulture is a comprehensive program designed to provide students\/trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in sericulture. Sericulture is the art and science of cultivating mulberry and rearing silkworms to obtain cocoons that are processed to produce silk and its products. This course provides learners with practical skills and knowledge in the entire silk value chain, including mulberry establishment and management, silkworm rearing and cocoon production, silk reeling and re-reeling, and fabric production.<\/p>

Students will gain practical experience and theoretical understanding from our experienced and knowledgeable teaching staff, model farms, and modern silk processing facilities to pursue a career in the sericulture industry adequately.<\/p>

Sericulture Course Modules and Assessment<\/h3>

The assessment is categorized into six core modules, and any student\/trainee can focus on any of them based on the competencies that a learner desires to achieve for a given trade. A trainee is awarded a certificate for each core module successfully completed. Examinations are spread out in November\/December, May\/June, and July\/August series as determined by UBTEB. Besides the following, CSER students do extra 6 support modules to help them efficiently apply their knowledge and skills gained in sericulture.<\/p>

Students are also expected to carry out one Real-Life Project each semester from the core modules to enable them to actualize the knowledge from class into practice. After completing each academic year, students are expected to carry out industrial training, which aims to bridge the gap between institutional-based training and the world of work.<\/p>
