On 19 August, Emmanuel Walimbwa Mukhama took the skills competition conversation to COU Family TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His message was bigger than the competition itself, \u2018\u2019The world is changing. TVET must change with it.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the interview, Mukhama argued that today’s economy requires young people to turn knowledge into useful products, services and solutions. He highlighted the importance of innovation and creativity alongside technical competence, which is why the skills competition model matters. It gives learners a reason to practice, It gives judges an opportunity to assess, It gives industry an opportunity to provide feedback, And it gives young people a chance to test themselves against real expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His challenge to young people is, \u201cLearn a skill. Have a skill.\u201d He also highlighted the importance of digital competence and argued that AI should be among the tools young people become familiar with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TRIDI’s academic approach therefore has a simple ambition, Don’t train young people only to pass. Train them to produce. TRIDI’s public training offer similarly emphasises hands-on workshops, skills competitions and industry-focused training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
