STUDY SERICULTURE.

Sericulture is the course which deal basically with rearing of silk worms to produce silk. The course introduces learners to the basics of sericulture. Sericulture is a course which takes two years and learners are warded certificate of science in sericulture by UBTEB and DITTE as examining bodies.

Each academic year, consists of two semesters which runs for sixteen weeks, which comprise fourteen weeks for teaching and continuous assessments and two weeks of practical’s and written examinations. Industrial training is a core module carried out at the end of academic year.

The entry requirements for certificate if science in sericulture program includes, Uganda Certificate of Education with five credits one of which English and mathematics and a credit in Uganda Junior Technical Certificate from a recognized institution in any of the field of agriculture. Graduates with a certificate of science in sericulture, may decide to further their skills and education by offering a diploma, degree in the areas below.

  • National diploma in sericulture
  • National diploma in agricultural mechanization
  • National diploma in crop science.
  • Diploma in organic agriculture as well as apiculture.

Learners who complete their courses with at least 2.0 cumulative Grades points averages in all modules of the course shall be awarded a classified National certificate or diploma by the mandated examining body after attending at least 75% of the course and undergone both continuous assessment and end of year examinations whereby continuous assessment will be assessed as 40% and final examination as 60%.

Continuous assessments consist of practical’s, tests, assignments, classwork and reports.

Admission Requirements

Fashion and design course at TRIDI is offered to a student who provides the following requirements:

  • 1. UBTEB admission is for the candidates has sat the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) Examination or its equivalent and obtained a certificate at the minimum level of pass in three subjects.
  • 2. For DIT, the candidate must have primary training and must have PLE certificate or its equivalent.

Fees for the Programme

The fees structure for the programme is as follows:
 Tuition

  1. Ugandans / East Africans / Refugees shall pay tuition of UGX 450,000 per Semester.
  2. International students shall pay tuition of UGX 800,000 (USD 223) per Semester.

 Functional Fees

  1. Ugandans / East Africans / Refugees shall pay functional fees of UGX 300,000 per semester.
  2. International students shall pay functional fees of USD 150 every semester.

Examination fees

  1. UGX250,000/- per module for UBTEB.
  2. UGX160,000/- for Level 1. (DIT)
  3. UGX200,000/- for Level 2. (DIT)
