Mukono ,Uganda Tropical Institute of Development Innovations(TRIDI), one of the most practical Agriculture Institutes in Uganda has bagged the prestigious award for emerging as the 1st Runner Up exhibitor during the 1st National TVET Skills Exhibition held at Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology(UICT), Nakawa.
The two Day Event (26th -27th April 2023) was held under the theme: Innovate and Create the Sustainable Future.
The skills exhibition was aimed at sensitizing the public to embrace practical, technical, and vocational skills Education as an attractive and visible career option.
TRIDI has been at the forefront of imparting hands-on skills to its trainees in various fields such as Sericulture and its value chain, coffee value addition, Journalism and Communication, Fashion and Design, Applied chemistry, Machine fitting, and Engineering, among scores of others.
TRIDI has challenged the limit by having a paradigm shift in giving Girls the opportunity to pursue courses where men have been dominating

Some of the products exhibited include Coffee and Wine under applied Chemistry, Sericulture value chain, and its products. The Sericulture Value Chain refers to the various activities involved in the production and processing of silk, from the cultivation of mulberry trees to the production of finished silk products
TRIDI is the Leading Implementer of Sericulture projects in Uganda and has enhanced and elevated practical Agricultural and environmental skills in the country through various unique innovations
First Lady and Ministry of Education and Sports Hon Janet Kataha Museveni who was represented at the opening event by the Minister of Education and Sports for Higher Education Hon. Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, encouraged the youth to engage in the various avenues availed by the Government of Uganda to access skills for growth and development. Janet castigated Individuals who have made it a habit to belittle TVET and yet this is the avenue where Uganda is reaping big from
The State Minister for Higher Education, Hon Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo applauded the level of creativity and innovation displayed which according to him demystifies the notion that trainees who join TVET are inferior or of low grade.
“With this exhibition, I can confirm that it is majorly TVET that fulfills the four pillars of education i.e. Learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and leaning to live with others, the negative attitude towards TVET must end! “He emphasized

The Chief guest during the closing Ceremony was the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda who also doubles as the Minister for East African Community Affairs, Hon.Rebbecca Kadaga Alitwala who later awarded the participants.
