Soap is a universal thing that can be found in all homes, shops, hotels and toilets among others. soaps are used for washing and bathing hence the demand for soap is high. TRIDI came up with a specialty training program to encourage the local community involve themselves in making home made things that do not require too much capital to start for the better living.
The training is aimed at teaching the community members, especially mothers, basic vocational skills on how to make both liquid soap and bar soap, in a simplified way. This training covers mainly practical and a bit of summarized applied theory, for better mastering skills and knowledge, the applied chemistry tutors at TROPICAL INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT INNOVATIONS (TRIDI) have taken through the process as headed by Mr. Milton Candia, Mr. Lauben, and Ms. Atumanye Claire.
The training involves introduction to soap, scientific chemical names, chemical reactions, ingredients and equipment used in soap making, safety precautions to avoid accidents, methods of processing package and marketing of the finished products.
The four-day training has had a great impact on the participants, who have done a wonderful job because each of them had been tasked to make their own product, which they perfected. This has skilled them to make products individually, for commercial purpose. participants have been rewarded with certificates for passing their exams.
The certificate rewarding ceremony has been officiated by Mr. Mike Magona the principle of academics at Tridi, he called upon participates to put the skills they have got in this training into practice. Participants are ready to start their own projects after the training.
