The National Certificate in Agriculture (NCA) program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in modern agricultural practices. This curriculum is aimed at producing competent agricultural technicians capable of addressing the challenges in the agriculture sector, promoting sustainable practices, and improving productivity and food security.

Course Structure and Modules

The course is structured into six core modules, complemented by support modules to provide a well-rounded education. Each core module is designed to impart specific skills and knowledge relevant to agriculture.

Program Highlights

  • Real-Life Projects: Students are expected to carry out one Real Life Project each semester, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
  • Industrial Training: At the end of each academic year, students engage in industrial training to gain hands-on experience in real-world agricultural settings.
  • Modern Facilities: The Institute boasts well-equipped laboratories, demonstration farms, and state-of-the-art machinery for practical learning.
  • Qualified Faculty: Experienced and knowledgeable instructors provide guidance and mentorship throughout the program.

Admission Requirements

To enroll in the National Certificate in Agriculture program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a minimum pass in three subjects
  • For DIT admission, candidates must have primary training and a PLE certificate or its equivalent

Fees Structure

  • Tuition:
    • Ugandans / East Africans / Refugees: UGX 550,000 per term
    • International Students: UGX 800,000 (USD 223) per term
    • DIT: Ugandans / East Africans / Refugees: UGX 390,000 per term; International Students: UGX 500,000 (USD 133)
  • Examination Fees: As fixed by UBTEB and DIT
  • Accommodation/Hostel/Meals: UGX 480,000 per term (Private accommodations are also available)
