October 15, 2021Tropical Institute of Development Innovations (TRIDI) has come up with different courses for learners in Uganda, among these includes Sericulture, ICT, Agriculture and Fashion and design
Fashion and design is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories
The following are the major subjects offered for fashion and design; Pattern making and garment construction, Fashion illustration, Elements of fashion and design, Fashion ornamentation, Fashion management and Merchandising, Computer- aided designing (CAD), Fashion marketing, and Clothing culture and communication
The class room contains the following requirements; sewing machines, tape measures, threads, a cupboard, stiff papers, iron board, iron box, tracing wheels, scissors, hand needles, machine needles, tailors pins, nylon, tailors chalk, seam rippers, materials, pattern/sugar papers, work table, thimbles, and full length mirror
Fashion and design classroom at Tridi, has different type of designs, which are made by students and both in materials and pattern papers
These includes Nigerian outfits like shirts with outer facing or inter facing , A line skirts, blouse, uniforms like sportswear short with lasting, a dress , shirts and kitchen up loan
Mr.Julius Wanzala, says, the course is going on well and students promises to become powerful designers in the whole world
He, adds that, soon we are going to have electrical machines which will lead us, in making all fashions of clothes and we become the pioneers of the country
The aim is to come up with great pioneer designers, researchers, enterprises and practitioners who will work on innovative design from a variety of perspectives, disciplines, and fields
