September 24, 2024TROPICAL INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT INNOVATIONS GIVES HANDS ON SKILLS TO ITS STUDENTS
September 24, 2024Mulberry leaves are cultivated to feed silkworms. Mulberry leaves are the only leaves that silkworms eat. The leaves must be fresh as silkworms cannot drink water and the leaves alone supply all the moisture the silkworms need.
Silkworms have a diet that is completely made up of mulberry leaves. Packed with vitamins, minerals and amino acids, these leaves provide all the nutrients silkworms need.
Our farmers at different stations of TRIDI like Nwooya, Sheema, Kayunga, Bulambuli, Bukedea, among others are advised to start planting mulberry when the rainy season begins. The quality of mulberry determines the quality of silk one will get.
