AMELO: THE MARKET QUESTION

“WHAT WILL I DO WITH THIS SKILL?”

At Amelo Technical Institute in Adjumani, the SIYEP rollout reached instructors and young women across construction, hairdressing and beautification, art fashion and design, and agro-processing/value addition. 15 TOT participants, 39 young women profiled/enrolled, 65 young women provided with SRH and menstrual hygiene support, 1 scholarship committee, 1 staff member trained on KoboToolbox.

But the strongest story from Amelo is not the number. It is the questions coming from the institution;

What equipment is available? What about PPE? What happens where electricity is unreliable? Where will products be sold? How do trained young women connect to markets? How can skills become self-employment?

If skills training produces competent young people but there is no market connection, the pathway is incomplete. Training must lead somewhere;

Skills + Confidence + Tools + Markets = Opportunity

Remove one element and the pathway becomes harder.
